An African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential aspirant, Rotimi Amaechi, has downplayed the possibilitlities of a crisis within the party.
Amaechi, a former Minister of Transportation, said he would
stay and fight in the eventuality of any crisis in the ADC.
The former governor of Rivers State made this known after he
was screened by the ADC presidential committee on Wednesday in Abuja.
Speaking with journalists after the screening, Amaechi said:
“Running away from the party is not the solution because wherever you want to
go, you will face the same elements. What is the solution then? The solution is
to fight them. So, when you say crisis, I don’t believe there is a crisis in
the ADC.”
Prior to the commencement of ADC’s presidential nomination
forms, there were claims of possible leadership crisis within the party.
Amid these allegations, former presidential candidates,
Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso had defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress,
NDC.
Following the allegations, spokesman of ADC, Bolaji
Abdullahi dismissed claims of a crisis within the party.
