The Borno State Police Command has called on residents to remain vigilant and security conscious following recent incidents involving improvised explosive devices (IEDs) recorded in parts of the state.
In a public advisory issued on Thursday, the police warned
members of the public to pay close attention to suspicious objects in their
surroundings, particularly unattended items in public places.
The command specifically mentioned items such as power
banks, abandoned bags, nylon bags, parcels, and other unusual objects that may
pose security threats.
Residents were advised not to touch, move, or tamper with
any suspicious object.
Instead, they were urged to immediately report such items to
the nearest police station or contact the emergency numbers provided by the
command.
“Members of the public are strongly advised to remain
vigilant and security conscious at all times,” the advisory, signed by the
Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, stated.
It added: “Do not touch, move, or tamper with any suspicious
item. Report immediately to the nearest police station or call the emergency
contacts provided.”
The police released emergency phone numbers 08068075581 and
08023473293 for quick response.
