Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Tuesday met with the United States Consul General in Lagos, Mr. Rick Swart, where they discussed strengthening bilateral ties between Nigeria and the United States.
In a statement on Tuesday, Obi said the meeting focused on promoting credible, free, and transparent elections in Nigeria devoid of interference.
He emphasised the need to create an enabling environment for all political parties, particularly opposition parties, to thrive and contribute meaningfully to national development.
The former Anambra State Governor also highlighted trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.Accompanying Obi to the meeting was Dr. Adefolaseye Adebomi Adebayo.
Describing the discussion as “very productive,” Obi expressed optimism that Nigeria’s elections will become even more credible and transparent going forward.
