The Pantamiyya Movement, a major support group loyal to former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami, has rejected the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus arrangement for elective positions in Gombe State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group described the arrangement as unacceptable and in clear violation of President Bola Tinubu’s directive on how the party should handle candidate selection.
The rejection follows the Gombe State APC’s announcement on Sunday naming Jamilu Gwamna as the party’s consensus governorship candidate for 2027.
In a strongly worded statement, the Pantamiyya Movement insisted that the consensus process lacked transparency and broad consultation with critical stakeholders.
The group warned that imposing candidates would alienate key party members and supporters who worked hard for the APC’s success in the state.
They specifically claimed the arrangement contravenes President Tinubu’s instruction to allow a more democratic and inclusive process rather than unilateral endorsements.
The development signals growing tension within the Gombe APC as different blocs position themselves for the 2027 polls, with loyalty to prominent figures like Pantami becoming a major factor in the unfolding crisis.
