Osun 2026: ADC well positioned for victory - Salaam

The candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, Najeem Salaam, has said the party is well positioned to secure victory due to growing support across the state.

Salaam spoke while addressing ADC members and supporters during a general meeting held in Ejigbo Local Government Area on Saturday.

“Our party enjoys widespread acceptance among the people, and with the level of support we are receiving, we are confident of emerging victorious,” he said.

He urged members of the party to remain committed and united in their efforts to win the election, stressing the importance of grassroots mobilisation.

“We must stay focused and continue to work together to achieve our collective goal of providing purposeful leadership,” Salaam added.

The governorship hopeful also pledged to deliver responsible governance if elected, noting that his administration would prioritise development and inclusiveness.

According to him, the ADC represents a credible alternative capable of restoring confidence in governance within the state.

“This is a structured platform built on progressive ideals, and we are determined to promote issue-based campaigns devoid of rancour,” he said.

Salaam, who appeared alongside his running mate, Temitope Agiri, reiterated that the party would not disappoint residents if given the mandate.

At the meeting, the Ejigbo Local Government Chairman of the ADC, Ganiyu Abeni, also spoke on the preparedness of the party ahead of the election.

He stated that the party’s structure in the area remained strong and capable of delivering results on election day.

“Our members are united, and we are fully prepared to ensure victory for our candidate,” Abeni said.

Similarly, the Osun State Chairman of the ADC, Isa Adesiji, described Salaam as a candidate chosen based on merit and leadership qualities.

He called on voters across the state to support the party, emphasising the need for a change in leadership.

Adesiji said, “His emergence is based on competence, character and humility, and we believe he can lead the state effectively.”

Also at the meeting, leaders of the party in the state revealed that they have intensified mobilisation efforts ahead of the governorship election and also expressed confidence in the party’s chances at the polls.
