Veteran journalist and former Ogun State Governor, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, has raised the alarm over an alleged gang-up against President Bola Tinubu in Southern Nigeria as the 2027 presidential election approaches.
Osoba said the plot involves fielding multiple presidential candidates from the South to split votes and weaken Tinubu’s electoral margin.
The elder statesman made the remarks at the Presidential Lodge in Abeokuta during the announcement of the APC presidential primary results in Ogun State.
In the primary held across all 20 local government areas of the state, President Tinubu polled a total of 322,485 votes to defeat his only challenger, Stanley Osifo, who scored zero votes.
Osoba warned APC members against complacency, describing the notion that Tinubu has no serious opponents as misleading.
“The enemies are many,” he said. “As we approach the next election, there is a strong gang-up against us. They are plotting to field several candidates from our region in the South.
"Obi has emerged, Jonathan is quietly waiting in the background, and Makinde has been grandstanding. All these appear to be attempts to divide votes from the South.”
He urged party members and supporters to prepare for the “real election” and to vote massively for President Tinubu in appreciation of the developmental projects his administration has brought to Ogun State.
