Ogun Assembly Confirms Two Commissioner Nominees

 

Ogun State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed Mrs Adenike Ademokun and Olayemi Sanusi as commissioner nominees.


The confirmation followed a request by Dapo Abiodun seeking legislative approval for their appointments into the State Executive Council.


Ademokun was screened and confirmed on Thursday, while Sanusi was confirmed earlier during plenary.


According to a statement by the House on Thursday, the lawmakers while speaking during the sitting presided over by the Speaker, Daisi Elemide, enjoined the nominee to justify the confidence reposed in her by bringing her wealth of experience to bear in strengthening governance and public administration in the State.


The statement read, “The legislative approval followed the consideration and adoption of the report of the Committee of the Whole House chaired by the Speaker as presented by Hon. Babatunde Tella, who noted that the lawmakers were satisfied with the nominee’s qualifications, experience and performance during the screening.


“The motion for the adoption of the Committee report was moved by Hon. Tella, seconded by Hon. Yusuf Amosun and supported by all the lawmakers through a voice vote


“The House Leader, Hon. Yusuf Sheriff, moved the motion converting the house report into the House resolution, seconded by Hon. Damilare Bello, leading to the confirmation of the nominee’s appointment.”


Responding to questions during the screening, Ademokun said she would draw from her previous experience serving in different capacities within the state public service, including her most recent role as commissioner in the State Civil Service Commission, to support effective governance and improved service delivery in the State.


Following the confirmation, the Speaker directed the Clerk/Head of Legislative Service, Sakiru Adebakin, to transmit the House resolution to the governor for further necessary action.


Speaking during the earlier screening of Sanusi, the Speaker alongside other lawmakers, charged the nominee to remain a worthy ambassadors of Odeda Local Government by upholding the high standard associated with the local government council area when appointed into office.


Sanusi’s confirmation followed the consideration and adoption of the report of the Committee of the Whole House chaired by the Speaker and presented during the plenary by Hon. Lukman Adeleye.


Adeleye noted that the lawmakers were satisfied with the nominee’s credentials and performance during the screening exercise.


Following the confirmation, the Speaker directed the Clerk/Head of Legislative Service, Sakiru Adebakin, to transmit the House resolution to the Governor for further necessary action.


Sanusi, a native of Odeda Local Government, was until his nomination serving as Special Assistant to the Governor on Agriculture and Food Security.
