Toyin Abraham, the Nollywood actress, has voiced deep distress over the escalating wave of killings and abductions in Oyo state and other parts of Nigeria.
A few days ago, armed men attacked schools and surrounding
communities in Oriire LGA of Oyo state, abducting pupils, students and
teachers.
The attacks affected Baptist Nursery and Primary School in
Yawota, Community Grammar School, and L.A Primary School in Esin Ele, all
within the Ogbomoso axis.
In a social media post on Wednesday, the filmmaker described
the deteriorating security situation as deeply personal and painful.
“My heart is deeply heavy over the painful killings and
abductions happening in Oyo state and across different parts of Nigeria,” she
wrote.
Abraham noted that recent attacks have left families
mourning, communities gripped by fear, and many residents struggling with
ongoing insecurity.
She emphasised that the recurring violence has made daily
life increasingly difficult for ordinary citizens, particularly families of
victims and those still searching for missing loved ones.
“I mourn especially with the families of the victims, the
parents whose children were taken, and everyone affected by the recent attacks
in Oriire local government and other parts of the state,” she added.
“No Nigerian deserves to live in fear; no child should be
afraid to go to school, no family should wake up to news of violence and
bloodshed.”
The actress also raised concerns about the need for stronger
preventive measures and better protection for vulnerable communities.
“And please, what is the state government doing to prevent
future occurrence?” she added.

“Nigeria belongs to all of us, and this is a time for unity,
compassion and shared responsibilities, we cannot normalise violence.
“May God comfort every grieving family, heal our nation and
protect every innocent life.”
Abraham’s post comes after her colleague Ruth Kadiri urged
President Bola Tinubu to address Nigeria’s worsening insecurity, warning that
citizens no longer feel safe even in their own homes.
She appealed to the president to take action before the situation deteriorates further, or to grant citizens permission to defend themselves.
