Man Confesses to Falsely Accusing Hunter of Boko Haram Ties

A resident of Mittiri Village in Yobe State has allegedly admitted to framing a local hunter as a Boko Haram member, an act driven by a long-running personal dispute.

According to security sources, the incident came to light after Ibrahim Mittiri reportedly told another resident, Umar Abdullahi (also known as Gajeri), on May 24 that the hunter, Aji Ibrahim, had links to the terrorist group.

The tip was passed to troops from Sector 2 under Operation Hadin Kai, leading to the hunter’s arrest.

Preliminary investigations quickly revealed that the accusation stemmed from a seven-year-old personal conflict between Mittiri and the hunter, a matter still pending in court.

During interrogation, Mittiri allegedly confessed that he fabricated the claim to have the hunter arrested and subjected to harsh treatment by security forces.

Authorities also discovered that Mittiri and Abdullahi had been involved in intelligence-gathering activities for local groups and were reportedly receiving monthly stipends.

Both men have since been arrested and are expected to face further investigation and possible prosecution for making false accusations and abusing security processes.
