Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has said the presidential ambition of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is dead on arrival.
Wike said Makinde’s decision to join the Allied Peoples
Movement, APM, in pursuit of his presidential ambition would fail.
This comes as Makinde declared his intention to run for the
presidency on the platform of APM in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Thursday.
Makinde’s declaration followed the signing of a Memorandum
of Understanding, MoU, between Makinde’s faction of the Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP, and APM.
However, Wike maintained that Governor Bala Mohammed of
Bauchi State has never spoken of any PDP-APM alliance, stressing that the
narrative was merely a political imagination.
Speaking with journalists on Thursday, during an inspection
of ongoing road projects in Gomani-Yangoje, Kwali Area Council, Abuja, Wike
said: “What you have is Seyi Makinde joining APM to be able to actualize his
presidential ambition, which is already dead on arrival.
“It’s unfortunate. We know that has been his game plan and
we would say he cannot fly the flag of PDP.”
The minister also reacted to comments credited to the
Governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara, concerning his continued membership of
the All Progressives Congress, APC, saying the governor has not told anyone to
pity him.
“Sorry for what? Why are you saying problem when nobody has
told you he has a problem?” Wike asked.
“The man has told you he still remains APC. So what is the
problem now?”
