The Labour Party (LP) has opened an appeals window for presidential, gubernatorial, and national assembly aspirants who are dissatisfied with the outcome of its screening exercise ahead of the 2027 vote.
A letter on Saturday, jointly signed by Taiwo Mary Ajayi and
Bintu Konto, chairman and secretary of the LP screening appeals committee,
respectively, said disgruntled aspirants were directed to submit notices of
appeal and all supporting documents on or before 6:00pm on Monday, May 25.
The committee stated that the appeal hearings would be
conducted in line with the party’s constitution, electoral guidelines, and its
terms of reference.
The committee said the appeals will be held between 11:00am
and 6:00pm at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
“Aspirants may complete the prescribed notice of appeal form
or submit a self-drafted notice, provided it conforms to the approved format,”
the statement reads.
“Appellants were advised to clearly state the basis of their
appeals and attach all relevant documents, with a warning that appeals
submitted after the deadline would not be considered.”
The committee noted that appeals should be submitted either
physically or via the official email address.
It added that oral submissions and notices sent through
unauthorised channels would not be acknowledged.
