Activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has fiercely criticised former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode, describing him as a “liar” and declaring that “no sane country would accept” him as a diplomat.
Sowore’s reaction followed Fani-Kayode’s announcement on X that President Bola Tinubu had approved his redeployment from Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to Germany to South Africa.
In his post, Fani-Kayode claimed he personally requested the change shortly after the initial announcement, citing discomfort with Germany for personal reasons and a preference for South Africa, which he described as aligning better with his values and pan-African vision.
However, Sowore dismissed the claims, writing on X: “If you trust claims like those from @realFFK, you’re likely to believe almost anything. Of course, he is lying, no sane country would accept an unstable character like Femi Fani-Kayode as a diplomat in their country.”
The controversy stems from President Tinubu’s recent appointment of Ita Solomon Enang as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany, while Fani-Kayode was redeployed to South Africa.
The war of words between the two outspoken figures adds to the growing political exchanges as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections.
