The Kwara State Government has rolled out computer-based promotion examinations for civil servants, ending years of paper-based assessments in the state’s public service.
Acting Head of Service, Olufunke Shittu, described the reform as a “transformation process” and a major shift toward global standards in public administration.
She spoke on Tuesday during an inspection of the exercise at the CBT centre of the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, where civil servants sat for the digitised exams.
“This is not just an examination; it is a transformation process. What we are witnessing today is the beginning of a new era in the Kwara civil service,” Shittu said.
She noted that the old paper-based system had long been plagued by issues such as missing scripts, delays in marking, and avoidable human errors.
“This system addresses those challenges decisively and restores confidence in the promotion process,” she added.
The exercise marks the first of its kind in Kwara and is part of broader reforms aimed at improving efficiency, accountability, and service delivery across ministries and agencies.
Shittu credited Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for driving the initiative, saying his administration’s push for innovation made the transition possible.
She also praised the Kwara State Civil Service Commission for coordinating the rollout through extensive planning and staff training.
She urged civil servants to embrace digital tools, stressing that “digital literacy is no longer optional in today’s workplace.”
She assured candidates of technical support throughout the exercise and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building a transparent, performance-driven civil service.
