Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has taken a swipe at the African Democratic Congress, ADC, over the exit of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, accusing the party of sidelining him during his brief stint.
Reacting to Obi’s recent departure from the ADC to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Keyamo said the party failed to accord the former Anambra governor the recognition and respect he deserved.
“The way the ADC handled Peter Obi was like treating him as a side-chick kept in the background, not given the main role,” Keyamo said, using the analogy to describe what he called the party’s lack of commitment to Obi’s leadership.
He argued that the ADC’s internal structure and messaging never truly embraced Obi as its central figure, despite his influence and political following.
Keyamo’s comments come amid increasing defections and realignments within Nigeria’s opposition bloc ahead of the 2027 general elections.
