An All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives aspirant, Ahmed Saleh Junior, has alleged serious manipulation and unfair exclusion during the party’s primary election for the Mani/Bindawa Federal Constituency.
Saleh, who enjoyed strong support in Mani Local Government Area, claimed he was prevented from fully participating in the direct primary held on Saturday.
He alleged irregularities in the voting and collation process, including instances where some voters reportedly lacked valid party membership cards.“I am not satisfied with what happened today. Evidence is everywhere showing the injustice that was done. The manner of counting was highly dubious,” he said.
In the earlier consensus arrangement, Saleh had been endorsed by stakeholders from Mani, but the process was reportedly overturned following complaints, leading to a direct primary where Jamila Abdu Mani (also known as Jamila Abdu Maigoyo) emerged victorious.
The development has sparked tension in the constituency, with some stakeholders and clerics rejecting the outcome.
The APC is yet to issue an official response to the allegations as of the time of this report.
The controversy is part of wider disquiet in APC primaries across several states ahead of the 2027 general elections.
