Marcus Rashford has clarified his latest controversial comments after backlash from Manchester United supporters who accused him of snubbing the club while celebrating his England recall.
The forward sparked reactions online after thanking coaches and clubs that helped revive his career over the past 18 months following his inclusion in England’s 2026 World Cup squad.
On his Instagram Story, Rashford mentioned figures including Hansi Flick, Unai Emery, FC Barcelona and Aston Villa, but omitted Manchester United.
The post quickly sparked reactions online, with some supporters interpreting it as a dig at his parent club amid continued uncertainty surrounding his future at Old Trafford.
However, following the criticism, Rashford later clarified his comments in a post on X, insisting there was no hidden message directed at Manchester United.
“To make my IG story clear. It’s not a dig of any sort! I’m a MU supporter, and that remains,” Rashford wrote Friday.
“I was showing gratitude to the clubs and coaches that I have worked with over the past 18 months, they have played a big role in this call up.”

The clarification has since generated widespread discussion among fans, with many debating the relationship between the academy graduate and the club where he rose to prominence.
Rashford’s latest England call-up comes after a difficult period in his career, marked by inconsistent form, injuries and intense scrutiny at Manchester United before loan spells at Aston Villa and later Barcelona helped revive his form.
The 28-year-old will now hope to focus on international duty as England prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
