Controversial Afrobeats singer Habeeb Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has accused organisers of a celebrity boxing event of robbing him following his unanimous decision loss to skit maker and streamer Carter Efe.
In a heated live video on his Instagram page shortly after the fight on Saturday morning, Portable claimed the bout was unfairly skewed against him due to Carter Efe’s height and reach advantage.
He alleged that Efe repeatedly used illegal tactics like strangling and holding his neck.
“I was robbed. Carter Efe was not professional enough. He was strangling with his long hands and height. I threw him many punches, why didn’t you people count them? Any blow that I threw to him ought to count even if it meets him on the shoulder or hand,” Portable said.
He also demanded his stream revenue, estimated at about N200 million, from the organisers, threatening to “cause trouble” if not paid. “They did ojoro for me,” he added, using a slang term for cheating.
Despite his strong reaction to the defeat, Portable downplayed the loss of his championship belt, saying his newly born son was far more valuable. His wife had just given birth to a baby boy, and he emphasised that family matters more than any title.
“You can only buy a belt with money, but a child cannot be bought... I value that more than a belt,” he stated.
The fight took place at the Chaos in the Ring 4 event held at Balmoral Hall in Lagos. All three judges scored the three-round contest 27–30 in favour of Carter Efe, ending Portable’s reign as the celebrity boxing champion.
Before the match, Portable had been highly confident, boasting that he would secure a third belt after previously defeating Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington. Carter Efe, however, had brushed off the threats, promising to knock him out with one punch.
Efe ultimately dominated the bout with cleaner punches and better ring control, leveraging his physical advantages throughout the contest. His victory earned him the new celebrity boxing championship title.
The event, which featured pre-fight trash talk between the two entertainers, drew significant attention from fans and fellow celebrities.
