Former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, has emerged as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election in the state.
Dan’iya, a close political ally of former Governor Aminu Tambuwal and holder of the traditional title of Walin Sokoto, confirmed his emergence in a statement issued by his former Press Secretary, Aminu Abubakar, early Friday.
He thanked party leaders, stakeholders, elders, youths, women groups, and supporters for the confidence reposed in him.
“This support is a responsibility I deeply value, and together, we shall continue to work for the unity, stability and development of Sokoto State,” Dan’iya said.
The former deputy governor particularly appreciated Tambuwal for his support and guidance, describing the ADC movement as a fresh push for inclusive leadership, good governance, and people-oriented policies.
He called on all members and supporters of the movement to remain peaceful, focused, and united as political consultations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
No fewer than 10 aspirants had shown interest in the ADC governorship ticket, including former Ambassador to Jordan, Faruk Malami Yabo.
