Malam Jafaru Ibrahim Sani, a close ally of former Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Sani, who served as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs before being redeployed as Commissioner for Education in the El-Rufai administration, has already obtained the necessary nomination forms for the race.
Confirming his decision in a brief WhatsApp response to Daily Trust, Sani said: “We are trying to be among the contenders. Allah yayi mana jagora” (May Allah guide us).On Wednesday, he was seen at a meeting with other ADC governorship aspirants where they resolved to work together to deliver victory for the party in the 2027 election.
Other notable contenders in the ADC race include Isah Ashiru Kudan, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2023 governorship election, Professor Muhammad Sani Bello, Shuaibu Idris Mikati, and Tijjani Ahmad.
The entry of Sani, a seasoned administrator with strong ties to the El-Rufai political structure, is expected to further heat up the contest within the ADC as the party positions itself as a major contender in Kaduna State politics ahead of 2027.
