Alabo Dumo Lulu-Briggs has emerged as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Rivers State after winning the party’s primary unopposed.
The former PDP gubernatorial aspirant was declared winner of the NDC governorship primary conducted on Tuesday across all local government areas in the state. Party officials noted that no other aspirant participated in the exercise.
Speaking after his emergence, Dumo Lulu-Briggs thanked the NDC for the confidence reposed in him and described the primary process as calm and peaceful.
He is now positioned to fly the NDC flag in the 2027 governorship race, where he is expected to face a strong challenge from Kingsley Chinda, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Chinda, a known loyalist of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, secured the APC ticket after incumbent Governor Siminalayi Fubara withdrew from the race.
The matchup sets the stage for what could be a high-stakes battle in Rivers State politics, pitting Dumo Lulu-Briggs against a candidate backed by the influential Wike political structure.
