The Cambodian government has strongly denied circulating reports claiming it ordered all African nationals to leave the country, describing the viral notice as fake and misleading.
Authorities, including the Ministry of Interior, clarified on Friday that the message being widely shared on social media did not emanate from any official government channel.
They stressed that no such policy targeting Africans or any other foreign nationals has been introduced. In a statement, officials reaffirmed that Cambodia remains open to foreigners for business, tourism, and employment, as long as they comply with the country’s immigration laws and regulations.
The government warned that the false report, which allegedly gave Africans a deadline to exit the country, was designed to create unnecessary panic and damage the nation’s international image.
Officials urged the public to rely only on verified government communications and disregard unverified social media claims.
This clarification comes amid other recent developments, including a deadline notice issued to some foreign nationals by immigration authorities and ongoing regional issues involving Thailand-Cambodia relations.
No official exit order has been issued, and the Cambodian authorities have firmly described the entire claim as completely untrue.
