Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan, representing Borno Central, has distributed ₦135,650,000 to All Progressives Congress (APC) executives in his constituency to support their preparations for the Eid-el-Kabir (Sallah) celebration.
According to a statement released on Friday by his legislative assistant, Usman Alkali, the cash donation was made on Thursday.
This marks the third time Senator Lawan has extended such support to party executives since joining the National Assembly.
The post on the senator’s Facebook page (originally in Hausa) stated: “Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan shares ₦135,650,000 to APC executives in Borno Central for Eid al-Kabir celebration.”
Alkali explained that the funds were intended to help party leaders celebrate the upcoming festival and to appreciate their dedication to strengthening democracy.
The development comes after Senator Lawan withdrew from the Borno governorship race. He endorsed Mustapha Gubio, the candidate supported by Governor Babagana Zulum, while retaining his senatorial seat following a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja.
This gesture highlights ongoing efforts by political leaders to engage with party structures ahead of major festivities in the region.
