Benue APC Appeal Panel Clears 11 Out of 50 Disqualified Aspirants

The Appeal Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has cleared 11 aspirants who were earlier disqualified from contesting the party’s House of Assembly primaries.

The decision came after the committee reviewed 50 appeals filed by aggrieved aspirants following the initial screening exercise.

In a statement on Thursday, APC State Organising Secretary, James Ornguga, announced that 11 appeals were successful, allowing those aspirants to participate in the forthcoming primaries.

The remaining 39 aspirants, however, had their disqualifications upheld by the panel due to non-compliance with party guidelines and constitutional requirements.

The appeal committee, led by Abubakar Lawal, with Ade Adetimehin as secretary and Ahmed Murtala as member, said it thoroughly examined all written petitions, documents, and oral evidence before reaching its decisions.

Earlier in Makurdi, the APC screening committee had disqualified about 50 out of 148 aspirants vying for seats in the Benue State House of Assembly.

Some of the notable aspirants initially disqualified include Wisdom Dominic (Otukpo/Ohimini), Ndiisaa Terhemen (Logo), Ologbo Edwin (Oju II), and several others.

The development is part of ongoing preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections as the APC continues its internal screening and appeal processes in Benue State.
