Suspected armed thieves have attacked the female hostel at the Numan Campus of Adamawa State Polytechnic, dispossessing students of at least 15 mobile phones and other valuables.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, May 27, 2026, as Muslim students prepared for Sallah celebrations.
The robbers, armed with guns, knives, and cutlasses, broke into the hostel and carried out the operation.
Witnesses reported that students who attempted to resist the theft were injured, with one fainting due to the trauma of the attack.
Students have accused the polytechnic authorities of negligence and providing poor security on campus.
The Numan Campus is the second largest after the main campus in Jimeta, Yola.Mr. Albert Matila, the institution’s Information Officer, confirmed the incident.
He assured that management would visit the affected female hostel to evaluate the situation.
The robbery has heightened fears among students regarding safety, especially in hostels, as the new academic session progresses.
