Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has been elected as the sole All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District in the party primary.
Akpabio, who is seeking re-election, emerged unopposed during the primary process, effectively making him the APC’s flag bearer for the senatorial seat ahead of the next general election cycle.
Party leaders hailed the outcome as a vote of confidence in his leadership and contributions to national and state development.
The former Governor of Akwa Ibom State has been a dominant political figure in the region.His emergence strengthens the APC’s chances in the district ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Reacting to the nomination, Akpabio thanked party members for their support and reaffirmed his commitment to attracting more development projects to Akwa Ibom while advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration.
