The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has declared his commitment to working to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, describing the president as “bad news for Nigeria’s future.”
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Sunday Politics’ programme, Baba-Ahmed expressed confidence that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) can be defeated next year.
“Our major agenda in the PRP is to unseat Tinubu,” he said. “I’m not saying that only PRP can get Tinubu out of power, but we have a major contribution to make, and we’re looking for every legitimate opportunity.”
Baba-Ahmed criticised the current administration sharply, stating that President Tinubu has “messed up this country” and made life more miserable and insecure for Nigerians.
“Nigerians are desperately unhappy. We know this for a fact,” he added. “Half the work has already been done. The rest of the work has to be done by us, the heavyweights. We have to find a way to pool our resources together, pool our energies together, and decide whether we can shun selfishness.”
He emphasised the need for opposition forces to reduce quarrels over positions and focus on achieving a change of government in 2027.
Baba-Ahmed’s comments reflect growing opposition momentum as political activities ahead of the 2027 polls continue to intensify.
