2027: Tinubu Govt Trying to Stop Peter Obi from Contesting – Obidient Movement

The Obidient Movement has accused the President Bola Tinubu-led government of orchestrating a deliberate campaign to prevent former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, from contesting the 2027 presidential election.

National Coordinator of the movement, Yunusa Tanko, made the allegation while reacting to the series of crises rocking opposition parties that Peter Obi has been linked with.

The group claimed that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is behind the internal divisions, court cases, and destabilisation efforts in parties such as the Labour Party (LP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), with the sole aim of denying Obi a viable platform to contest.

According to the Obidient Movement, the pattern of interference became evident after Obi left the LP and later exited the ADC amid leadership tussles and legal battles, which they described as engineered by agents of the Tinubu administration.

The movement insisted that despite these alleged plots, Peter Obi remains the strongest opposition figure capable of challenging the APC in 2027, and vowed to stand firmly by him as he consults on his next political move.

This latest accusation comes as Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso recently joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), with supporters calling for unity and focus on nation-building rather than political litigation.
