Shamsudeen Bala Mohammed has confirmed that his father, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, is currently without a formal political party affiliation and has urged supporters to stay united and patient as a new platform is sought ahead of future elections.
In a Facebook post written in Hausa on Sunday, April 26, 2026, Shamsudeen addressed members of the ‘Kaurasiyya Aqida’ group and those loyal to “Kauran Bauchi” (his father’s political brand).
He stated: “I would like to draw the attention of our people to understand that at the moment we do not have a political party. However, by God’s will, our leader will find us a platform where we can present candidates.”
He stressed the importance of unity and divine will in politics, reminding supporters that “it is God who grants power to whom He wills.”
Shamsudeen called for full backing of any candidate that emerges whether through consensus or open primaries and warned against internal division.
He cautioned that withdrawing support if a preferred aspirant is not chosen (a tendency he described as ‘Matasa Imani’) would lead to collective failure.
The governor’s son concluded by praying for success for “the one destined for it” and urged loyalists to rally behind the chosen candidate until victory.
This statement comes days after Governor Bala Mohammed described himself as a “freelance politician” with no firm ties to any party.
Speaking on Thursday while hosting African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Peter Obi and South-East stakeholders, the governor noted uncertainties facing both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) his former platform and the ADC.
He said both parties were “in limbo” and that his team was exploring realignment options while awaiting judicial processes.
Mohammed emphasised that the discussions with Obi focused on national unity and building a stronger front rather than immediate partisan moves, adding that “we cannot operate without a platform” but that the current situation could ultimately help unify forces for better electoral prospects.
The development reflects ongoing realignments and uncertainties within opposition politics in Bauchi and at the national level as stakeholders prepare for the 2027 general elections.
