The United States government has offered a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to the identification or location of an Iraqi militia leader.
The State Department announced the bounty on Thursday under its Rewards for Justice program. The program targets individuals accused of planning or carrying out attacks against US personnel and interests.
US officials said the militia leader is linked to attacks on American forces and diplomatic facilities in Iraq. The reward aims to disrupt the activities of groups Washington designates as terrorist organizations.
The State Department urged anyone with credible information to come forward through secure channels provided by the Rewards for Justice program.
The Iraqi government has not issued an official statement on the US announcement as of press time.
