Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have delivered a major blow to terrorist activities in Plateau State, neutralising at least 10 terrorists during a coordinated offensive in Wase and Kanam Local Government Areas.
The operation, conducted on Thursday, April 9, 2026, targeted Daba and Seri villages as part of the ongoing Operation WUTAN DAJI.
It successfully disrupted the terrorists’ logistics network, rescued several kidnap victims, and led to the recovery of weapons and other items.
According to Captain Chinonso Oteh, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, troops established blocking positions between Dutsen Zaki and Odare Forest.
They engaged a large group of terrorists on motorcycles along a known transit route.
“Despite initial resistance, the terrorists were overwhelmed with superior firepower, leading to the neutralisation of 10 terrorists while others fled into the surrounding forest,” the statement said.
In a related development, troops responded swiftly to reports of an attack on commuters along the Razat and Kafi Abu axis.
They pursued the perpetrators into Suma Suga, Takwok villages, and adjacent mountainous areas.
Items recovered during the operation include:
Three AK-47 rifles
Three AK-47 magazines
Eight rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition
Two motorcycles
Five 25-litre jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS)
A National Identity Card and photograph belonging to suspects
The successful engagement has significantly degraded the operational capacity of armed groups in the region.
Troops remain on high alert and are pursuing fleeing terrorists and their collaborators.
Residents of Wase and Kanam have expressed satisfaction with the military’s decisive action, which aims to restore lasting peace and protect lives and property in the area.
