Troops of the Nigerian Army have intercepted a significant quantity of ammunition and suspected explosive materials along the Manchok–Jos Road in Kaduna State, arresting seven suspects in the process.
The operation took place on April 16, 2026, when soldiers at a checkpoint near Boys Science Secondary School in Manchok stopped a navy-blue Opel wagon commercial vehicle carrying seven passengers.
Items recovered from the vehicle include 569 anti-aircraft rounds, a warhead, empty AK-47 shells, components of explosive materials, and several condemned mobile handsets.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Khalifa Bawa, claimed the items were part of a consignment under a waybill from an unidentified sender.
However, he could not provide any valid documentation or contact details of the sender.
All seven occupants were arrested and are currently being held for further investigation. They will be handed over to appropriate authorities for detailed interrogation and possible prosecution.
