President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded the name of Mr. Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe to the Senate for confirmation as the new Minister of Power.
If approved, Tegbe will take over from Adebayo Adelabu, who recently resigned from the position to pursue his governorship ambition in Oyo State. Adelabu’s resignation is expected to take effect on April 30, 2026.
Tegbe, a seasoned professional with a background in engineering and extensive experience in strategy, technology advisory, and public sector reforms, has previously served in roles including Director-General and Global Liaison for the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership.
The nomination comes as the administration continues efforts to address challenges in Nigeria’s power sector and improve electricity supply nationwide.
The Senate is expected to screen the nominee in line with constitutional requirements. This development marks another strategic appointment by President Tinubu as he reshapes his cabinet ahead of the coming years.
