President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu as the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).
Professor Aliyu succeeds Engr. Ahmed Galadima Aminu (also known as Tijjani Galadima), who recently resigned from the position to contest the 2027 gubernatorial election in Adamawa State under the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket.
The development follows Galadima Aminu’s decision to step down in line with guidelines for political appointees eyeing elective offices. He had served as PTDF Executive Secretary since late 2023, when President Tinubu first appointed him to the role for an initial four-year term.
Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu is a seasoned academic and historian, previously serving as Director of Arewa House at Ahmad Bello University, Zaria. His appointment is expected to bring scholarly expertise and strategic leadership to the PTDF, which focuses on building human capacity in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector through scholarships, training, and technology development.
No further details on the tenure or effective date of the appointment have been released by the Presidency as of now.
