The Taraba State Government has firmly refuted rumours suggesting that Governor Agbu Kefas has issued automatic tickets to selected political aspirants for the upcoming general elections.
In a statement released on Friday in Jalingo by the Special Adviser on Political Matters and Special Duties, Josiah Sabo Kente, the government described the allegations as “false, baseless, and misleading.” It stressed that the governor has made no such promises or commitments to any individual or group.
The statement emphasised Governor Kefas’s dedication to democratic principles, internal party democracy, fairness, and equal opportunity for all aspirants within the All Progressives Congress (APC).“At no time has His Excellency made any promise of automatic tickets to any individual or group,” the statement read.
Kente noted that the clarification is consistent with the position of the Taraba State APC chapter. State Chairman Abubakar Bawa reportedly reaffirmed that the party makes no provision for automatic tickets and remains committed to a transparent and credible selection process through proper primaries.
The government expressed concern that the circulating rumours have created unnecessary tension among aspirants, party members, and the general public. It urged stakeholders to disregard the claims and refrain from spreading unverified information that could undermine party unity.
Reaffirming its priorities, the statement added that Governor Kefas will continue focusing on good governance while supporting lawful and democratic processes within the party as preparations for the elections advance.The government called on all aspirants and their supporters to remain calm, united, and committed to the party’s ideals.
