Sokoto Recording Success in Fight Against Banditry – Governor Aliyu

Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has said his administration is gradually recording success in the battle against banditry and other forms of criminality in the state.

The governor made the declaration on Thursday while opening the State Executive Council meeting at the Council Chamber, Government House, Sokoto.

Aliyu noted that the state government, working closely with security agencies, is making steady progress in tackling banditry, which currently affects 13 local government areas of the state.

“I am happy to inform you that our renewed commitment to ensuring a secure Sokoto State is yielding tremendous success. We will not relent in this effort until all displaced communities return to their ancestral homes,” the governor said.

He assured security agencies of his administration’s continued support to enable them to effectively protect lives and property.

Governor Aliyu called on residents of Sokoto State to continue supporting the government and security agencies by providing credible intelligence that could help expose criminal elements.

He particularly urged people in rural communities to identify and expose informants within their midst, describing such persons as enemies of peace who must be dealt with according to the law.

The governor reiterated his commitment to providing purposeful leadership that will transform the state and appealed for continued prayers and support from the people to enable his administration to deliver on its promises.

He also thanked members of the State Executive Council for their contributions to the development of Sokoto State.
