Serie A: Atlético Madrid confirm Lookman’s injury blow

Ademola Lookman will spend time on the sidelines due to an adductor injury he sustained, Atlético Madrid have confirmed.

The Nigeria international picked up the injury during Atlético’s Copa del Rey final penalty shootout defeat to Real Sociedad in Sevilla on Saturday.

The game ended in a 2-2 draw with Sociedad prevailing 4-3 in the shootout.

Lookman scored Atletico’s first goal in the first half.

The winger was, however, replaced in the 62nd minute by Nicolás González.

Lookman will follow an individualized plan in the coming days, and trained separately from his teammates to avoid aggravating the injury.

His return to training with his teammates will depend on how the discomfort progresses.
