President Tinubu Approves Key Appointments in Education Sector


President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved several strategic appointments and reappointments in Nigeria’s education sector, aimed at strengthening the management of key examination, technical education, and library institutions.


The appointments, announced on Wednesday, include the following:Prof. Modupe Adeola Adelabu was appointed as Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Examinations Council (NECO).  


Prof. Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi was retained as Registrar/Chief Executive of NECO.  

Prof. Babatunde Salako was named Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).  


Prof. Idris M. Bugaje was reappointed as Executive Secretary of NBTE for a second and final five-year term.  

Engr. Dr. Bongfa Binfa was appointed Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, N’yak-Shendam, Plateau State, for a five-year term.  


Prof. Chinwe Veronica Anunobi had her appointment renewed as Director/Chief Executive of the National Library of Nigeria for a final five-year term.


These appointments reflect the President’s continued focus on repositioning Nigeria’s education sector for improved performance, transparency, and service delivery. The roles cover critical institutions responsible for national examinations, technical and vocational education, and the preservation of national knowledge resources.


The Presidency is expected to issue formal letters of appointment to the new and reappointed officials in due course.
