A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Emmanuel Agbakahi, has claimed that politically sponsored terrorism is a major driver of insecurity across Nigeria.Agbakahi made the assertion while speaking on the persistent security challenges bedevilling the country.
He alleged that some politicians are actively sponsoring terrorist activities to destabilise the nation for their selfish political gains.According to him, the situation would improve significantly if the Federal Government identifies and prosecutes those financing terrorism and other forms of insecurity.
The APC chieftain urged security agencies and the government to go beyond surface-level operations and tackle the root causes, particularly the alleged political sponsorship of violence and banditry.
He emphasised that addressing the financiers behind these acts is crucial to restoring peace and stability in affected regions.
This statement comes amid ongoing concerns over kidnapping, banditry, and terrorist attacks in several parts of the country, especially in the North and North-Central regions.
No immediate reaction from the Federal Government or security agencies has been reported on Agbakahi’s claims.
