Police Arrest Six Over Abduction of CSP, Son in Kaduna

The Nigeria Police Force has successfully arrested six suspected kidnappers connected to the abduction of a senior police officer, CSP Silas Kundi, and his son, Enoch Silas, in Kaduna State.

The gang allegedly collected a ₦24 million ransom but failed to release the victims.

Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, announced the breakthrough on Tuesday during a press briefing in Abuja about the operations of the Special Tactical Squad (STS) under the Force Intelligence Department.

According to Placid, operatives acting on actionable digital intelligence arrested the suspects, Yusuf Shuaibu (23), Abubakar Bature (19), Yau Murtala, Bello Suleiman (19), Abdul Kareem Nuhu (36), and Ahmed Musa (28)—on April 3, 2026, in Kaduna State.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Yusuf Shuaibu is a key figure in a notorious kidnapping syndicate led by a gang leader known as Kachalla Gwanna, with camps in Rijana Forest, Kaduna State.

The group abducted CSP Kundi and his son from Kujama Town in October 2025, collected the ₦24 million ransom along with other items, but still refused to free them.

Police intervention eventually led to the rescue of Enoch Silas unharmed. Efforts are ongoing to secure the release of his father, CSP Silas Kundi.

The suspects are also linked to another kidnapping case involving Yusuf Mohammed, Aminu Mohammed, and Aisha Yusuf, in which ₦18 million was paid as ransom before police rescued the victims.

Investigations continue to track down fleeing gang members, recover operational weapons, and free any remaining hostages.

In related operations, the STS arrested a suspect tied to banditry in Plateau State and four other armed bandits in Kaduna, recovering firearms and ammunition.

This development highlights the police’s intensified efforts against kidnapping syndicates operating in the region.
