Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has formally declared his intention to seek re-election into the Senate in the 2027 general elections.
The senator also pledged his full support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing the President’s impressive performance since taking office.
Nwoko made the declaration on Friday while speaking with journalists at the Asaba International Airport shortly after his arrival in Delta State.
He was accompanied by former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.“I will work for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu because he has done well. I believe in the President and his performance so far,” Nwoko said.
On his senatorial ambition, the lawmaker expressed confidence in his strong relationship with the people of Delta North.
“The people know me, and I know them. I understand their needs, and I am committed to addressing their challenges,” he stated.
He was welcomed by a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters at the airport, a turnout described by political observers as an early show of strength and grassroots acceptance ahead of the 2027 polls.
Nwoko highlighted some of his upcoming projects, including plans to facilitate the upgrading of the Federal College of Education, Asaba, into a full-fledged federal university to expand access to higher education in the district.
He also aligned himself with Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s position on the creation of Anioma State, describing it as being in line with the current national direction.
The senator called on residents of Delta North to remain united and support development-focused leadership while rejecting “old politics.”
Nwoko’s declaration is expected to heat up political activities in Delta North as the race for 2027 gathers momentum.
