A yet-to-be-identified man was rescued on Wednesday after attempting to jump into the Lagos Lagoon from a bridge.
Eyewitnesses reported that the man parked his vehicle on the bridge before entering the water, causing panic among passersby.
Local fishermen in the area quickly intervened, pulling him out of the lagoon and preventing what could have been a tragedy.
A video of the rescue, which circulated on social media, was shared by Isaac Fayose, who urged Nigerians to check on their loved ones.
“Please, check on your family and friends. This just happened today. Who knows what went wrong,” he wrote.
As of the time of reporting, the man’s identity and the reason behind his action remain unknown.
Neither the Lagos State Police Command nor other authorities have issued an official statement on the incident.
