The Lagos State Government has taken delivery of 24 new train cars (equivalent to three full eight-car trains) to expand and modernise the Lagos Red Line rail service.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who personally received the new train cars, said the addition will significantly increase passenger capacity, reduce waiting times at stations, and make daily commuting easier and more comfortable for residents across Lagos.
The governor explained that the new cars will help meet the growing demand on the Red Line, especially during rush hours, allowing more people to travel by rail instead of relying on road transport.
This latest delivery is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to build a reliable and efficient mass transit system aimed at reducing traffic congestion in Lagos. The new train cars are expected to be put into service in the coming weeks.
