As preparations intensify for the 2027 Kwara governorship election, prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders from Isin, Ilorin West, and Ilorin East have declared their support for Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, describing him as the strongest and most qualified aspirant from Kwara South.
At separate meetings held in Oke Onigbin, Mandate, and Sango areas of Ilorin, party leaders and members endorsed the former State APC Chairman as the candidate best positioned to build on Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s developmental achievements.
The Isin Progressive Likeminds, led by Kayode Olaoye, said the endorsement followed extensive consultations and grassroots assessments across the state.
“We believe the time calls for visionary, inclusive, and transformative leadership that promotes unity, equity, and sustainable development,” the group stated.
Stakeholders from all 11 wards of Isin resolved to mobilise widespread support from grassroots, traditional rulers, and community leaders for Bolarinwa’s ambition.
In Ilorin West, a stakeholders’ meeting convened by Hon. Ayo Obisesan and attended by party elders, women, and youth groups across 12 wards also threw their weight behind Bolarinwa.
Prof. Yahya Duro Uthman Hambali declared: “Today we are making history choosing progress over stagnation and hope over despair.”
In Ilorin East, the Progressive Caucus, led by Chief Babatunde Asanlu, endorsed both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election and Bolarinwa for governor through a voice vote.
Asanlu praised President Tinubu’s bold reforms, including fuel subsidy removal, exchange rate unification, infrastructure renewal, and the student loan programme.
On Bolarinwa, he said: “He is a tested leader with proven experience, broad acceptance, and strong grassroots connections. He has the capacity to take Kwara to greater heights.”
The endorsements signal a growing wave of support for Bolarinwa within the APC ahead of the 2027 election.
