Kwara APC Endorses Tinubu for Second Term, Backs Speaker for Governor

Supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State have endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office and thrown their weight behind the governorship ambition of the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi, ahead of the 2027 elections.

Hundreds of APC loyalists staged a rally on Sunday at the council secretariat and other key locations in Bode-Saadu to declare their position.

The Executive Chairperson of Moro LGA, Hajiya Mariam Abdulwasiu, said the gathering was to demonstrate the collective will of the people.

She announced their endorsement of Tinubu’s re-election and the Speaker’s governorship bid, while also demanding that the House of Representatives ticket for 2027 be zoned to Moro.

Speaking on behalf of the chairperson, former INEC commissioner in Kwara State, Ishola Ajibade, commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his developmental strides in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and human capital development.

He stated that after careful consideration, the Moro APC members endorsed Speaker Danladi as their preferred governorship candidate to sustain the governor’s legacies, especially given the agitation for power shift to Kwara North, which has not produced a governor since 1999.

A former Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Mathew Okedare, also endorsed Tinubu’s second term, noting that the president has ensured regular allocation of funds to the state, enabling timely salary payments and project execution.

Other speakers, including former lawmaker Babatunde Paku and Council Secretary Nura Muhammed, emphasised the need for equity and justice, arguing that Kwara North deserves to produce the next governor after Kwara Central and South have held the position for decades.

They described Speaker Danladi as a capable, young, and experienced leader ready to continue the current administration’s good work.
