A top aide to Peter Obi has claimed that former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has agreed to serve as the Labour Party presidential candidate’s Vice Presidential running mate in the 2027 election.
Ibrahim Abdulkarim, an aide to Peter Obi, made the revelation while responding to questions during an interview with Trust TV.
He talked about a possible political alliance between the two leaders.“Yes, I can categorically say that he agreed. They have met not once, not twice,” Abdulkarim stated.
He added that arrangements are already in motion for a major political event.“We have already arranged for a Kwankwasiyya and Obidient summit very soon,” the aide disclosed.
The claim suggests a potential merger of forces between the Obidient movement and Kwankwasiyya supporters ahead of the next general elections.
Both Obi and Kwankwaso contested the 2023 presidential election separately, with Obi under the Labour Party and Kwankwaso under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
No official confirmation has yet come from Kwankwaso or his camp regarding the alleged agreement.
