Imo Govt Bans Frequent Changing of Textbooks in Public, Private Schools

The Imo State Government has banned the frequent changing of textbooks in all public and private schools across the state.

The new policy directs schools to adopt approved textbooks and use them for a minimum of four years before any change can be made.

The directive aims to reduce the financial burden on parents who have been forced to buy new textbooks almost every academic session due to constant changes by schools.

Announced through an official memo, the government warned proprietors of private and faith-based schools to strictly adhere to the approved list of textbooks and stop the annual replacement practice, describing it as financially burdensome to parents.

This latest move by the administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma is part of broader efforts to ease the cost of education and bring stability to the school system in the state.
