The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja has called on the political figures in Oyo State not to drag him into politics, warning he is not a politician.
The statement came few hours after rumours surfaced that the
Olubadan and some political figures in the state are planning to impeach the
Governor.
But, Olubadan in a statement signed by his Media Aide,
Adeola Oloko described the rumour as baseless and untrue.
Oloko, in the statement made available on
Tuesday, said the Olubadan has no power to impeach the Governor.
He added that a traditional ruler has no power to remove the
Chairman of a local government area, let alone a governor.
He called on the people not to drag the monarch into dirty
politics.
He said, “You don’t have to be a former Governor or
distinguished Senator to know that a monarch has no power to impeach a Local
Government Chairman,not to talk of a State Governor.”
