A former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has warned that the actions of Nafiu Bala, factional National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), might cause big problems for him.
Kwankwaso warned that any action of Bala that could stop the
party from moving forward might lead to serious problems, as there is a
leadership issue happening within the opposition group.
In an interview with DCL Hausa, he emphasized the importance
of coming together and working as one within the party.
According to Kwankwaso: “He needs to understand that
millions of people have signed up; a party that started small has become much
bigger because important leaders came on board with a goal to do what’s best
for the country.
“If he keeps getting in the way of that progress, it will
turn into a major issue for him.”
Kwankwaso also said that trying to fix the disagreement
stopped when Bala didn’t show up for a planned meeting.
“We had planned to meet yesterday, but even after waiting
until the morning, he didn’t come.
“I had been told he wouldn’t show up, and his not being
there is really upsetting,” he said.
He also warned that these actions could harm both the party
and Nigeria’s democracy.
He added, “In our current national situation, our party and
our democracy don’t need someone acting like ‘the lizard at the mouth of the
water pot.”
