A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Enugu State, Chief Tony Nwobodo, has tasked the newly elected leaders of the party to ensure unity among the members ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Nwobodo, who gave the charge on Wednesday in a statement issued in Enugu, congratulated the newly elected leaders and delegates following the conclusion of the party’s national convention.
Specifically commending the emergence of Dr Ben Nwoye as the APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Nwobodo described his election as a strategic win for the Southeast region.
The APC stalwart tasked the new deputy national chairman with the responsibility of unifying the party’s various factions to ensure a formidable front ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Nwobodo urged Nwoye to leverage his new office to foster reconciliation and strengthen the party’s grassroots structures across the southern states.
He noted that the primary objective of the new leadership should be to secure a clean sweep for the APC in 2027, ranging from State House of Assembly seats to the Presidency.
“I congratulate Dr Ben Nwoye on his emergence. He must now use this position to unify the party and ensure that the APC wins across all states, from the state assemblies to the Presidency, in the 2027 general elections,” the statement read.
The chieftain emphasised that internal harmony is a prerequisite for electoral success, adding that the successful conduct of the national convention had provided a solid platform for the party to rebuild.
He further called on all party faithful and stakeholders in the zone to accord the new leadership the necessary support to discharge their duties effectively.
Nwobodo expressed optimism that with the right leadership and a cohesive strategy, the APC would remain the dominant political force in the South East, and indeed in the country, delivering on its developmental agenda for Nigerians.
