Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, appeared at the Kaduna State High Court on Monday as proceedings resumed in his ongoing trial instituted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
El-Rufai is being tried alongside Amadu Sule over allegations including abuse of office, fraud, intent to commit fraud, and conferring undue advantage.
Shortly before entering the courtroom, the former governor was overheard discussing the forthcoming national convention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) with a close associate.
“So tomorrow is our convention, right?” he asked.
“God willing,” the associate replied.
The brief exchange showed that El-Rufai remains actively engaged in party affairs despite his legal challenges.
Meanwhile, the former governor also faces a separate 10-count charge at the Federal High Court in Kaduna, bordering on abuse of office, money laundering, and fraud involving N579.6 million and $1.1 million, filed by the ICPC.A bail hearing in the second case has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 14.
